Floyd Franklin Smith (1900-1984) worked as an entomologist at the USDA for 40 years and was recognized as an international authority on the biology and control of insect pests of flowers and ornamental plants. In 1929 Smith seved as an associate entomologist with the Bureau of Entomology stationed at Arlington Farms in Rosslyn, Virginia.
